Personal Narrative /First-Person Writing
Turning life experience into art isn’t easy. Personal narrative has power to advance empathy and critical thinking. Your story can shift the world. Amy Lou's writing students have taught her that everyone has a story that only they can tell. And world needs that story.
Green And Wildish Living
Our Earth is hurting as societies and individuals disrupt natural systems. We celebrate and spend time in nature to advocate for and enjoy our planet. While some experience the natural world in the wildest of ways, Amy admits she’d rather not go too long without a warm shower and comfortable bed. She doesn’t rappel rock faces or cross oceans in her scull. She loves the wild Earth and natural waters, but she isn’t wild, only wildish.
In 1968, in a speech to the general assembly of the International Union for Conservation of Nature
Baba Dioum said:
“In the end, we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand and we will understand only what we are taught.”
Baba Dioum taught us that we must incite love for the natural systems of our Earth. Let's do that.
